What is the Citizens4Water project about?

In this project, we are developing a global inventory of citizen science initiatives in hydrology and water management. The project takes place in the context of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP).

Purpose of the repository:

  • facilitate projects to develop new or optimise existing citizen science projects in hydrology and water management
  • identify gaps in current citizen science in water management
  • enable policymakers to consolidate knowledge from relevant existing citizen science projects from around the world.

Through a collaborative approach with international stakeholders, the project will result in:

  • the development of an online repository and platform
  • the collection of best practices worldwide
  • the dissemination and promotion of the platform for permanent use.

Give your input

On 23 May 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CEST), we will organise an online co-design workshop where you can give input on the objectives and functionalities of the online repository.
