Hoogspanningslijn

Buren Meten Hoogspanningslijnen ('Citizens Measure High-voltage Power Lines')

Actief 2025 – heden
Scivil is joining forces with the imec-UGent research group WAVES for CitizenELF. High-voltage power lines generate extremely low-frequency (ELF) magnetic fields. The strength of these fields depends on the amount of electricity being transmitted and the distance from the source. With high-voltage power lines, the magnetic fields are therefore strongest directly beneath the line. And it is this strength that we now want to measure.

The inventory consolidates knowledge from existing projects, supports the development or enhancement of citizen science projects, and identifies gaps in hydrology and water management practices. The inventory is available on www.citizens4water.org. Are you working on a citizen science project related to fresh water? Go have a look on the platform, get inspired and share your project with the
