Students present Scivil projects at Science Communication Fair

On 6 May 2026, the Quadrivium in Arenberg (Leuven) hosted Science, Shared, the culminating event of a science communication course at KU Leuven. Throughout the semester, students collaborated with companies, institutes, and organisations on more than 40 science communication projects. Four student teams worked on projects for Scivil.

The engaging fair was filled with interactive booths and presentations. The four teams who did a project for Scivil, presented the following:

  • A rebranding campaign for the amai! project, featuring a social media outreach plan and a presentation ready for use at events. (Kaustubh Dabral, Ilona Kyrashchuk, Kasper Staelens, Brent Timmermans)
  • An adapted version of the Citizen Science Test for younger audiences. (Clevin Anto Liju, Mathias Robberechts, Oliver Maria Scherr, Romane Louise Michel Schönholzer)
  • Collecting stories for Citizen4Water, the global platform for freshwater citizen science projects, and making an interactive map to showcase projects on the platform. (Pieter Houben, Lily Rose O'Shea, Annie Schulz, Hajar Yammi)
  • A participation contest for Maarallee!, the app that helps AI understand Flemish, encouraging users to submit voice notes via the app. (Rik De Backer, Anke De Haes, Mara Ducheyne, Malin Van Rompay)

We at Scivil are happy to have collaborated with these students and are proud of the strong results and new perspectives that they brought.
