Organization

For 23 years, the passionate and creative team at RVO-Society has been working toward one common goal: inspiring people about science and technology. Scivil is the Flemish knowledge center for Citizen Science and is embedded within RVO-Society. Scivil builds bridges for better citizen science by bringing together, supporting, and informing scientists, citizens, and societal actors. Citizen science is scientific research that is wholly or partly conducted by non-professionals (citizens), often in collaboration with or under the guidance of professional scientists. Scivil aims to further expand the citizen science community in Flanders and provide tools to support citizen science projects.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Project Manager Citizen Science to oversee ongoing and new projects, supporting and innovating citizen science in Flanders.

Job Description

  • Project Management
    • You will independently lead projects such as the amai! project (www.amai.vlaanderen) and other initiatives to support and innovate citizen science in Flanders. You will maintain oversight and create connections with other projects.
    • You will concretely develop the projects based on work packages, deadlines, KPIs, and budgets.
    • You will manage the project team and organize steering committees, working groups, and advisory groups.
  • Project Exploration
    • You will establish new project partnerships and collaborations. This includes maintaining a network with citizen science actors in Belgium and Europe (research institutions, civil society, policymakers, etc.).
    • With support from your team leader, you will translate Scivil’s strategic goals into project proposals, which you will draft together with colleagues and external partners.
  • Core Citizen Science Support
    • You will provide advice, lectures, and workshops on citizen science.
    • You will stay updated on the latest developments in the broad field of citizen science and participatory research through relevant literature, workshops, and lectures. You will translate this knowledge into support services and materials for citizen science initiators.

We offer a varied job in a young and dynamic environment with plenty of room for initiative and development. This is a full-time contract (100% - 80% negotiable) for a fixed term (1 year), with the possibility of a permanent position. Salary is adjusted based on your education level and experience. Additionally, you will benefit from a favorable group and health insurance plan, receive meal vouchers, and be provided with a mobile phone subscription.
