Workshop 'Starting with citizen science'

On 19 February, the workshop “Getting Started with Citizen Science” took place in Leuven. Fourteen participants spent the whole day developing a first concept for their own citizen science project idea. After this succesful edition, we'll be organising the workshop once more on 3 June.

workshop gedeelde uitdagingen

What can you expect?

  • Step‑by‑step brainstorming and development of an initial concept for your citizen science project
  • An introduction to methods, target groups, communication, and project management in citizen science
  • Exchanging ideas with—and gaining inspiration from—other practitioners
  • Guidance from trainers at Scivil, the Flemish knowledge centre for Citizen Science

Who is this workshop for?

  • You are a researcher taking your first steps in citizen science.
  • You have little practical experience with citizen science but want to explore the approach.
  • Important: You already have an initial idea for applying citizen science in your research. During the workshop, we will further develop your idea into a first project plan. We expect you to join with a preliminary idea for a potential project in which citizen science could be used. Your idea can still be vague—we’ll shape it together during the workshop.
