PXL-music

PXL-Music is the unique bachelor's programme in pop and rock music in Hasselt, Belgium. This three-year course is built around courses for musicians, music managers and music technicians.

The programme wants to further develop and share its knowledge of music, management, sound and education. That is why PXL-music started the Expertise Cell "PXL-Music Research". He investigates issues and creates innovative solutions from the creative practice of the music sector within 3 domains Data Science in the Music Industry, Immersive Music and Music Education (STrOOM).

PXL-Music works strongly internationalized and is constantly looking for qualitative opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, skills and research projects in a European and global context.

Inspired by the work of asteroseismologist Dr. Katrien Kolenberg (KU Leuven & UAntwerp), the STrOOM team at PXL-Music designed a curriculum in which children from primary and secondary education come up with their own stars and then sonify them with the help of a computer. This experience led to closer cooperation in the Astrosounds project
