Vrije Universiteit Brussel - Science Outreach Office

The VUB Science Outreach Office aims to build bridges between research and society. On the one hand, we guide and motivate scientists to share their knowledge and expertise, and to involve the community in their research from the start. On the other hand, we put the general public in the heart of science through science bars and festivals, our Children’s University … and several projects on community engaged research.

Citizen Science plays a very important role not only in informing, but more importantly, in involving citizens in scientific research. Researchers, citizens, organisations and governments all benefit from this type of interaction and the results it brings forth. That is why the VUB Science Outreach Offices has a strong focus in citizen science, and for this purpose, we launched a Citizen Science Contact Point.

The Contact Point aims to guide and support researchers in the run-up to, during or in the aftermath of a citizen science project. We do this through tools, trainings and workshops, science communication, contributions to events, peer learning sessions, networking opportunities and the mapping of good practices.
