AstroSounds

Did you know that the stars make sound? Stars are more than just pretty to look at. AstroSounds teaches us to listen to them as well. Well-trained ears can classify the different types of stars, by listening very closely. Discover what the stars are telling you, and help scientists determine the life journey of the stars.

AstroSounds teaches you to 'really listen'. At first, you'll learn to listen to and differentiate different musical instruments and voices. Once you've gone through this learning process, you're ready to do the work of an actual asteroseismologist. You will listen to different star sounds and we ask you to classify the star according to the sound it makes.

You'll learn more about sounds, vibrations, the composition of stars and what their life cycle looks like. At the end of the ride you'll have learned a lot, and in a very interactive way. By participating in this citizen science project, you help the astronomers unravel the inner structure of a star. Scientists will learn more about the life course of a star such as that of our sun, and with this project they can also investigate or 'listen' to stars and analyze data in a multisensory way.
