Curieuzeneuzen in de Tuin
Did you know that the rise in temperature also causes more evaporation, so that drought may occur more often in Flanders in the future? This second edition of CurieuzeNeuzen takes a closer look at soil drought in Flanders. Citizen scientists plant a sensor in their garden and use it to measure the temperature and moisture content of the soil. This way, the heat stress and drought of the Flemish soil can be analyzed.
In Flanders, 5000 volunteers will take soil samples during a couple of months. They will place sensors in the ground that will measure temperature and moisture levels. This way, the project will create a detailed map of the soil drought during the summer months of 2021.
